Granny Annexe House Extension, Huntington, York.
Sunroom & Granny Annexe
A client in York initially needed a self contained ‘Granny Annexe’ house extension, and ultimately a space for their own retirement, which could also be used for returning family and guests. They also wished to modernise and expand their kitchen and have a pleasant breakfast room, overlooking the garden with outdoor entertainment space.
Planning Approval was secured for the house extension to form a significant semi-independent granny annexe. The new build home extension design on a typical 1980’s bungalows modest plot, with its own entrance, direct link to the main house, level access shower, kitchen, living room and bedroom.
The main house has a large south facing feature window in a room looking directly onto the garden, which is retained. The Granny Annexe home extension runs parallel and form a series of progressively diminishing blocks. These in turn open up the remaining garden area, and forming a number of paved areas, which interact well with the the new house extension as a whole .
