Mixed Use Projects and their Planning
Nationally we have been primarily in the education, healthcare, retirement and residential schemes in the main. However, there are a number of ways of defining 'mixed use'. Whether that is the combination of a few or many different use classes within the same development. Mbo architects have certainly been involved in projects within the continuing care community sector which is also classed as mixed use. Indeed mbo architects pioneered the mixed use continuing care communities over 20 years ago with the build of the UK's very first at Hartrigg Oaks York.
Overseas, there has been a move towards 'HOPSCA' styled developments, many of which have floor areas of 350,000 to 1,200,000 m2. We are able to offer such design services as you will see from our portfolio. Incidentally HOPSCA stands for a development which includes all the following elements; HOTEL, OFFICES, PARK, SHOPPING MALL, CONFERENCING, & APARTMENTS.
