Qing Cheng Mountain Retirement Community Master Plan with mbo architects York
Another retirement community by mbo architects, York for China. This time at QingCheng Mountain a favoured summer retreat for the people of Chengdu, with its clean air, natural beauty and usually some 5 degrees lower in temperature than the city where temperatures in summer often rise to 38 degrees.
The brief here was to provide a new high class retirement community that would also be seen as an investment, a place where the elderly could spend time and also cater for their visiting families. The scheme provides apartments, duplex town houses and villa's. Along with Hot Spring Spa, Hotel, restaurants, clubhouse and retail units. mbo architects York, used the considerable expertise and knowledge of retirement communities already built in the UK, such as Hartrigg Oaks and Plaxton Court to name but two.
The style is that of Edwardian England and the arts and crafts revival. The buildings are designed in rows due to the structural issues caused by the strict codes for earthquake proof design. The whole of the site is pedestrian only with a number of exit points from the basement car park, which also carries all the services to the plots, and had some impact on the ground level layout of the retirement community at Qingcheng Mountain.
This particular scheme has been very successful and widely published in the architectural press. Citing McNeil Beechey O'Neill Architects LLP (mbo architects) as experts in this field of planning of design. The projects proximity to the Ancient City of Du Jiang Yan helped make this retirement community an instant success too.
